My scholars G.O.A.L spring project consisted of my learning a children’s popular song in sign language. My original plan was to learn this song and teach it to the kids at the daycare I work out, but due to COVID-19 I did not have the chance too. I learned Baby Shark which is one of the kids’ all time favorite songs. At the daycare most of the children know basic sign language words for example “all done.” I thought it would be a cool ideal to use sign language in a song that was played everyday. I learned the song and there is a video attached below and I am helpful when I start working again I can teach the children. This was a very fun experience for me and I plan to take an ASL class at OSU. I would love to further my skills so I can communicate back and further with people who sign.

Scholars G.O.A.L.S Spring Project

I wanted to focus on helping the community and providing people in need with items to make them happy. I plan to learn how to crochet and make blankets for people in the hospital and the homeless. This aligns with the Service Engagement Honors & Scholars Goal. Homeless is a social issue and as the winter time comes up they will be freezing. I want to make something that will bring them comfort and warmth in the cold months. I plan to learn how to crochet over the winter break. Over the spring semester I want to make at least two blankets if not more. I want one to go to a homeless person and one to an ill child in the hospital. The first step is to get the materials and watch YouTube videos on how to crochet. I will start making simple crochet squares to practice before I start the blanket. I believe I can have these steps by the end of January.
