First Impression of Ohio State

Welcome week was a very overwhelming experience for me being a new student, but it made Ohio State feel very welcoming. Move in day was my second time being on campus and I was scared to say the least. Having activities during welcome week forced me to leave my dorm and explore the different things campus has to offer. I also had the opportunity to get involved in different tasks and make friends while doing so.

When I decided to major in Architecture I had no idea what to expect from my class or the major. After going through my first two weeks of class I can say I was completely surprised by the classes. The class that surprised me the most was studio because I did not know what to expect going into a class like that. I under estimated the amount of time and dedication that class would take from me, but I am enjoying it. I also really enjoy my African American Studies class because it is a break from all the Architecture work and I get to interact with people from many different majors.

Adjusting to the college life as been easy for me so far. I do not think it has really dawned on me yet that I will not be returning home for a couple of months. One thing I am really struggling with is having to share a bathroom with so many people and a room with somebody else. This is the first time I have had to ever share a room with another person and I am missing my private space. Other then that I am making OSU my home. I really like my class schedule because I have enough time between each class and I don’t have to wake up super early or finish super late.

My expectations for my first few weeks on college where met. The food is better than what I expected and I have way more options then I thought I would. I was able to meet some really friendly people who have made my time so far at Ohio State fun. I was able to join clubs and learn about new activities I have always been interested in. Scholars was a program that I had know idea what I was getting involved into. I had never heard of the program or knew anybody that was involved in it. I am glad that I join because I love the values that the Scholars stand for and I can not wait to get father involved.
