I am a true Buckeye at heart. It all began at a young age while growing up in Sidney, Ohio. For me, it goes beyond watching football on Saturdays and immersing myself in a sea of scarlet and gray. It begins with a simple story that was told me around the kitchen table.

My grandfather and grandmother met at Ohio State. This may not be all that uncommon, but the story that follows probably is…

They started at OSU in the late 1930’s only for my grandfather to have his education interrupted by the draft and WWII. He left for the war and returned two years later to meet my grandmother at a sorority and fraternity mixer. Needless to say, they got married, and were the parents of six children, my father being the youngest. How can you not fall in love with the spirit and tradition of Ohio State after hearing that story?

This is what someone means when they say their blood runs scarlet and gray, not red. In turn, I had no choice but to attend The Ohio State University. Upon graduating from high school, I did just that. Although everyone has their own unique journey to college, here is mine:

I began my college career at Ohio State Lima. Yes, I was one of those students who were not admitted to the Columbus campus as a freshman. Although I was not excited about this opportunity at first, I certainly would not change it for the world now that I look back. OSU Lima is where I found the passion for my academic discipline, as well as a career interest in Admissions.

After spending two years at Lima, I moved on to the Columbus campus of Ohio State. There I completed my studies, and also had the opportunity to be employed as a Junior Admissions Counselor in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

In June of 2012, I graduated. It was now time for me to get a job, right? Luckily for me, I was hired as a Temporary Admissions Counselor at the Columbus campus for a tenure that lasted about ten months. After my contract ended, I took my current position as Admissions Counselor and First Year Experience Coordinator at Ohio State Mansfield. I recruit primarily in northeast Ohio and enjoy working with all current and prospective students.
