Year in Review

During my travel experience to London for the London Honors class, I was quite surprised to see a connection to my engineering class during a visit to the Design Museum. An exhibit at the museum had handheld computer programmed games that were simple and fun. These games were exactly like the games that many people, such as myself, programmed for the final project in my engineering class. I was able to learn a great deal during my London Honors experience about how much other cultures differ from the American culture I am used to, and how these differences can expand my viewpoint so that I can learn about ways to live life that I would never even think of. The London Honors experience specifically impacted my academic life by teaching me how the British put all of their focus on academic study during their college experience. This reminded me that the main purpose of college is to study the subjects that interest you so I am now more focused on studying the subjects that I require for my major, and I have also realized that I should study everything about subjects I am interested in and not just what is required of me.

The London Honors course helped me grow as a person by exposing me to a whole new way of living life and seeing the world. Living in London is unlike anything I have ever experienced before, and being there for nine days made me think about what it would be like to live there. I could see myself living in London and enjoying everything the city has to offer, and I hope that one day I can live in London even if it’s only for a year or two. The things that I enjoyed the most about London were the easy public transportation, comfortable atmosphere of pubs, rich history and architecture, and wide variety of activities to do. Traveling in London confirmed my plans to study abroad while I am in college. Everything about the experience was amazing, and I can’t wait to experience other diverse ways of living life in other countries in the future.
