Ecuador is experiencing ecological disasters on a yearly basis; anything from flooding to volcanic eruptions. This is a graph showing the numbers of each disaster that they have experienced from 1980-2010.

On September 24, 2013, Bolivia experienced a very large landslide that killed 16 people, left 20 people missing, and injured many more.  The slide was due to an excessive amount of rain in Bolivia's northeastern part of the Amazon.  Landslides seem to be common natural disasters for the Andean Area.

 Being  country in a mountainous area, Ecuador is prone to having many different volcanoes throughout the country. They have around 25 volcanoes, active and only a few extinct, in the country.

Ecuador’s Tungurahua volcano erupted in August of 2013, sending a large plume of gas, stones and ash nearly 45,000 feet into the sky. The plume was visible more than 90 miles northeast, in Ecuador’s capital city of Quito.
