Maintaining Motivation Blog Post

The most useful thing I learned from this week’s module is taking action or just doing something. Most people commit to taking action only if they feel a certain level of motivation. And they feel motivated only when they feel enough emotional inspiration. It’s hard to get Emotional inspiration but waiting for inspiration to get things done, you might be waiting for a long time. If you want to do something but don’t feel motivated, or inspired to get the thing done, then you just assume you’re in trouble. Using progress as a motivator (slide 15) action, inspiration, motivation, or do something. By doing something and then using the reaction of that something as an inspiration to get yourself motivated. When studying, if I find myself getting stressed out, I usually take a 30-minute break to get my mind right so I can maintain the level of my productivity. Including breaks in my study section always works for me. It’s a strategy that I will continue using. To all students, If you lack the motivation to study, to do the homework, or to make a significant change in your life, try doing something anything, and then use the reaction to that action as a way to get motivation.

Searching and Researching: The Foundations of Academic Writing

The most useful thing that I learn from this week’s module is to be careful with the website I use for my research paper. Finding reliable sources for research papers can be challenging. It is important to keep looking for a credible source and not reverting back to using Wikipedia to get easy and quick answers. in Wikipedia, anyone can edit a page without having credibility in that specific study. it’s always important to find more about the author responsible for presenting the information, where the article was written, and what organization was responsible for the writing. Knowing the author responsible for the information and the author’s credentials is the best way to find out if the source is reliable. the idea from this module I could put into practice in the future is Boolean logic. I will be sure to use Boolean logic to perform more efficient research. Boolean logic was not something I had heard of before, learning about is just another way to improve my research efficiency. I have use easyBib, Mendeley for citations and I will try Refworks for my citation in the future. My advice to other students is to stay away from Wikipedia and find credible sources for their research papers

Web-Enhanced Listening and Viewing Strategies

Note-taking is one of the most important activities for students. Having a good method for note-taking is significant to have a good note. Note-taking methods will help you to prepare before the lecture and to review key concepts after a class. It will help you to stay focused during the lecture to pay attention and actively participate. For this week’s module, I have learned helpful tips for improving my note-taking. First having active listening is key for good note-taking. The video from Thomas Frank of College info Greek illustrates 5 different methods for taking notes. Great video, Outline, Cornell, Mind Map, Flow, and Write on the Slides Methods are methods that I plan to use to find out what works for me. I have used the Cornell method in some of my classes and it was effective and not so effective in some. For example, it’s hard to use the Cornell methods in my math class, it’s something that can be done, but it just didn’t work for me. I need improvement in every aspect of note-taking no matter the class, but I feel like I need a significant improvement in my organization. The ideas from this module made me realized that I can get better at my note organization. By using different methods for different classes is important. My advice for other students is to learn better ways to improve on their note-taking. Having a good note allows all students to understand and learn the material for their course assignments or exams which is a great skill to have.

Web-Enhanced Reading and Study Strategies

What I learned from this week’s module is to take full advantage of the Internet. The Internet allows us to study seamlessly from anywhere and at any time. We often forget to take advantage of what we have, the Internet has everything we need to get things done. The most useful thing I learned in this module is SQ3R. SQ3R five-step starting the reading survey, question, read, recite, and review by the steps you pay attention to what you going to learn. Ask the good question for understanding, read actively, in your own words explain it to someone and finally go through the relevant part to make sure you understand the material. I haven’t been reading a lot later because my classes right now are math-heavy which don’t require a lot of reading. Every idea given in this module special in the science of studying, I will be using them in the future to better my studying habits. My advice for other students is to be open-minded because anytime is a learning time. I tell them to remember that we learn through exposure. Another piece of advice is to take advantage of the Internet and to make active learning habits.

Time Management

The most useful thing I learned in this module is what goes on in the heads of procrastinators from the ted talk inside the mind of a master procrastinator. With instant gratification monkey, sum it all of our brain works when we need to get our task done. it’s obvious, we always find excuses not to do things. I learned from the 10-minute rule to focus on achieving just the few things and move up. I plan to prioritize and learn to say no to anything that is not on my shortlist. taking on the little task of moving my way up worked out great for me. I feel like I don’t have to do everything at once, one step at a time is the best to go. I learned a lot from this module that I am going to put into practice moving forward. just like the google sheet; I will start by setting aside exactly one hour each day to work on only one thing. Once I get into this habit, I will increase the time to two hours. Based on what I read or experienced from this week’s module, my advice for students is to identify what’s the cause of their procrastination, knowing the cause we can something about it. Working on your time management skill is important in the aspect of life, it’s better to work on it now than later.
