Vegetative Characteristics: 

Seedling: cotyledons broadly oblong to ovate, glabrous

Stems: erect, 15.0-70.0 cm tall, branching, glabrous, round

Leaves: alternate, 2.0-8.0 cm long, bipinnatifid, segments mostly elongate, linear, or linear-filiform, glabrous

Reproductive Characteristics: 

Inflorescences: solitary heads terminating from branches; ray florets 12-25, 0.6-1.3 cm long, corolla white, 5-toothed; disk florets 0.8-1.5 cm wide, corolla 5-toothed, yellow

Fruits: achene, 3-angled, 1.2-1.5 mm long, grooved winglike ribs, thickened, 2 marginal, 1 ventral, gray to black or dark brown; pappus low crown

Special Identifying Characteristics: 

erect, odorless annual or sometimes perennial herb; leaves bipinnatifid, segments linear, glabrous; heads solitary at ends of branches; ray florets white, disk florets yellowish
