Family: Convolvulaceae; Morningglory Family

Vegetative Characteristics: 

Seedling: hypocotyl smooth, green or purple; cotyledon deeply indented, lobes long and pointed, glabrous

Stems: climing or trailing vine, to 2.0 m long, highly branched, glabrous or sparsely pubescent

Leaves: alternate, simple, variably cordate to 3-5 lobed, glabrous or rarely with scattered pubescence, margins often purplish; petiole 1.0-3.0 cm long

Reproductive Characteristics: 

Inflorescences: axillary, solitary or few in clusters, sepals 10.0-15.0 mm long, lanceolate, lance-ovate, or oblong, tips acuminate; corolla 1.8-2.0 cm wide, funnelform, white.

Fruit: capsule, 6.0 mm diameter, subglobose to hemispherical, 2 locules, glabrous or pubescent toward apex

Seeds: wedge-shaped, 5.0-6.0 mm long, 4.5-5.0 mm wide, black, shiny, scar, smooth, large.

Special Identifying Features: 

climbing or twining annual vine; cotyledons deeply indented, glabrous, leaves glabrous or rarely with sparse pubescence on petiole and margins, margins purple, flowers small and white.
