Benjamin Duran successfully completes his final exam and obtains PhD degree

Congratulations to Dr. Benjamin Duran  who successfully completed the exit seminar and final examination required for the PhD program in the Department of Animal Sciences. Ben’s thesis is titled “Development of an Induced Pregnancy Loss Model to Assess the Mechanism of Corpus Luteum Maintenance After Maternal Recognition of Pregnancy in Cattle”. Ben will be joining the Animal Science Unit at California State University, Chico as an Assistant Professor this fall. Well done Ben!!

Camila Brochado successfully completes her final exam and obtains MS degree

Congratulations to Camila Brochado who successfully completed the exit seminar and final examination required for the Master of Science program at Facultad de Veterinaria, Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay. Camila’s thesis is titled “Relacion entre la reserva ovarica, hormona antimulleriana, produccion de embriones y tratamiento con FSH”. Well done Camila!

Jessica Motta receives the 2024 ADSA Midwest Scholar Award

Congratulations to Jessica Motta who is one of the recipients of the 2024 American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) Midwest Scholar Award. The purpose of this program is to recognize and feature the research accomplishments of recent Ph.D. graduates or current Ph.D. students in the advanced stages of their program (i.e. within 12 months of degree completion).

Shaun Wellert successfully completes his final exam and obtains MS degree

Jessica Motta awarded the Presidential Fellowship!

Jessica Motta (PhD candidate) has been awarded a Presidential Fellowship. The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious award given by the Graduate School at The Ohio State University to recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research. Congratulations Jessica on a well deserved recognition!

Caleb Rykaczewski receives the Outstanding Graduate Student Award

Congratulations to Caleb Rykaczewski who received the Department of Animal Sciences Outstanding Graduate Student Award in the MS category. The award is presented to one MS  student in recognition of their academic excellence and service to their fellow graduate students and the Department. Well done Caleb!

Natalia Folchini receives IGP grant!!!

Congratulations to Natalia Folchini who’s proposal titled “Assessment of the Role of Increased Utero-Ovarian Blood Flow in Corpus Luteum Maintenance During Pregnancy in Cattle” was awarded ~$5,000 from the CFAES Internal Grants Program (IGP). Natalia’s proposed research builds on one of the main focus areas of the lab directed at understanding the physiological mechanisms involved in pregnancy maintenance beyond classical maternal recognition of pregnancy in cattle.

Cameron Hayden successful completes his final exam and obtains MS degree
