Communication Styles (October 6, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:00)

Dr. Lauren Hensley, the Senior Associate Director of the Dennis Learning Center, presents a webinar on communication styles for postdocs. For better or worse, communication styles influence the way we perceive – and are perceived by – others. Understanding communication styles and strategically using them in different situations can enhance daily interactions as well as productivity and satisfaction as a postdoc. In this session you will learn more about what it means to have a supportive, emotive, reflective, or directive communication style. You will also brainstorm how to work effectively across different communication styles to bring about positive outcomes and manage conflict.

Resilience, Growth Mindset, and Optimism (October 13, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:00)

But this doesn’t mean passively following your mentors – you must proactively “mentor up” as you engage with your mentors. In this webinar, you will learn how to maximize your relationship with your mentor and to develop and use a Mentoring Action Plan (MAP) to navigate mentoring relationships to meet your goals.
