Lunch with a Professor: A Networking Program for Postdoctoral Scholars

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is proud to offer the “Lunch with a Professor” program, designed to facilitate networking among postdoctoral scholars and professors across the university and the greater academic community.

The nature of research is interdisciplinary, and in order to find great collaborations it is necessary to network. Networking can also help you explore careers, nurture relationships with people who you admire and respect, and learn more about resources throughout the University. And remember that in any field advancement can depend not just on what you know but who you know as well.

In order to incentivize this useful practice, the OPA will sponsor meetings between postdoctoral scholars and researchers and faculty members over a meal (lunch, breakfast, or coffee). You can apply for up to two BuckID cards, each worth $10, that can be used at the following on-campus dining locations. Please be aware that supplies are limited and these will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please take a picture of you with the professor and send it to osupostdocs@osu.edu This will allow us to document and promote this program.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a postdoc at Ohio State
  • The faculty member must be either:
    1. An Ohio State faculty member from a department different from the postdoc’s department, or
    2. From another university
