Midwestern Region

Midwestern Psychological Association conference

The annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA) will be held April 12-14, 2018, at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, IL. MPA moved the annual meeting earlier in the calendar year to reduce conflicts with graduation and final exam schedules. As an added benefit, room rates have decreased in price!

Psi Chi provides opportunities for members and undergraduate students in general at MPA conventions. These include up to seven student poster sessions, sessions on applying to (and surviving) graduate school and the workplace, a distinguished speaker, and a reception for student researchers.

General Guidelines
*Any undergraduate student researcher may submit an abstract–you do not need to be a member of Psi Chi.
*The first author of the submission must be an undergraduate student. Graduate students should apply to the regular MPA program.
*The submission must be an empirical research project, not a theoretical or review paper. Specifically, it must involve the collection of quantitative or qualitative data using sound research methods (experiments, self-reports, naturalistic observation, archival research, and case studies are all considered to be appropriate methods).
*It is not necessary to have completed data collection, but the project must be fully developed and planned at the time of submission.
*Researchers may be the first author on no more than two submissions.

Submission Guidelines
MPA 2018 Submissions Open August 31, 2017
Deadline: November 7th, 2017 (11:59 pm EST)

Before you start the submission, please note:
*You will be asked to complete a Qualtrics form with your information and upload a 400-word abstract.
*Save your file in Word with the file name “topic area_last name.” Topics are: applied and I/O, biological, clinical, cognitive, developmental, experimental, health, social, and other.
*Psi Chi members also need to upload a 50-word short abstract (“abstract_last name”).
*All authors and co-authors (including faculty authors if any) need to be entered on the author lines.

Your confirmation of submission is the final screen once you submit. There is no automatic email confirmation due to the system used and volume of submissions. One email confirmation will be sent to all users with a submission in the system on or around November 9th, 2017.

Submissions are now CLOSED.

Curious how your poster abstract will be rated? Here is the rating scale.
