Getting Involved in Research

Psi Chi recognizes and promotes the science and application of psychology. The organization is committed to diversity and inclusion in all of its forms through research; clinical, community, and professional applications; education; mentorship; and organizational leadership.

Thinking about graduate school in psychology? Nearly all experimental programs (social, cognitive, developmental, I/O), and many clinical programs, require participation in research from concept to completion. One way to kick start this path is to get involved in research as an undergraduate student! OSU Newark psychology faculty are involved in many types of research, including:

  • Dr. Buelow (Clinical Neuropsychology): Decision making and other executive functions, clinical and neurological populations
  • Dr. Hupp (Developmental Psychology): Children’s attention and language processing
  • Dr. Jungers (Cognitive Psychology): Perception, language, memory, and music processing
  • Dr. Kowalsky (Health Psychology): Blood donation and vaccination behaviors
  • Dr. Okdie (Social Psychology): Emergence, maintenance, and ending of relationships through media
  • Dr. Robinson (Cognitive/Developmental Psychology): Cross-modal processing, attention, categorization, and early word learning
  • Dr. Wirth (Social Psychology): Group processes including ostracism
