The 2020 Highland County Jr. Fair Steer Tag in will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Union Stockyards on State Route 138 east of Hillsboro. Tune in to Buckeye Country 105.5 for cancellations due to weather.

4-H Camp Counselor Applications – Due January 9, 2020

The 4-H Camp Counselors are a group of 4-H teens selected to assist in being responsible for campers during 4-H camp. As a result of participation, counselors will develop knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations needed for adult success, and the Highland County 4-H program will be strengthened and expanded.

Applications are available  in the Extension office or online at:

4-H Committee Members Needed

Nominate yourself or someone else to serve on the

Highland County 4-H Committee! Committee volunteers are comprised of volunteer advisors, parents and the business community. The terms are below. Contact Kathy or Danielle at (937) 393-1918  for nominations for one of the following positions:

1 – NE (Leesburg, Greenfield, Hillsboro) – 3 yr. term

1 – NW (Leesburg, Lynchburg, Hillsboro) – 3 yr. term

1 – SE (Berrysville, Belfast, Sinking Spring) – 3 yr. term

1 – SW (Buford, Mowrystown) – 2 & 3 yr. terms

1 – At-Large – 3 yr. term

Volunteer Applications and Trainings

Now is the time to recruit new volunteers for 2020! Any adult who is going to be alone with 4-H members must go through the volunteer selection process. If volunteers want to be active in 2020, they need to complete the selection process. Applications for new advisors will be due the last Thursday in February in 2020. The forms are available through the Extension office.

Ohio Youth Capital Challenge

Do you know a teen interested in government, public service and citizenship? Applications are now available for the Ohio Youth Capital Challenge. Hosted by Ohio 4-H, FFA and the Ohio Farm Bureau, delegates learn about policy, spend two days at the Statehouse learning from legislators and develop an action plan. Counselor College Apr. 4-5

Great opportunity to meet other counselors that camp at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp while learning how to be a great counselor.  This weekend training allows teens to grow, develop and understand the positive impact they can make in the 4-H program.

Buckeye Leadership Workshop

Buckeye Leadership Workshop is a learning, sharing “workshop” intended as a balanced program of social, physical, mental, and spiritual activities. We believe that Buckeye Leadership Workshop provides a powerful learning environment in which anyone who works with people, professionally

Highland County 4-H members are eligible for several county and state 4-H scholarships and opportunities. The individual requirements are different. Handwritten forms will not be accepted.

2020 Junior Fair Board

An extension of the Jr Fair Board Application Deadline has been made to December 2, 2019 at 4:00pm. More spots have been added to the board and would like to fill those if possible.
