About Me

Carolina Ortiz

Caro Ortiz is a Hispanic fourth year student acquiring an Honors Neuroscience major and French Linguistics, Economics, and Leadership Studies minors while on a pre-medical track. Caro has been performing research in the field of Neuroscience with Dr. Askwith for three years and loves being able to see real life applications of the techniques she learns in her biology and chemistry classes. She looks forward to presenting her research in the Denman Undergraduate Forum every year as a way to share her most recent findings regarding neurodegenerative diseases. Caro is currently a member of the Eminence Fellows Council and enjoys finding ways to give back to the scholarship group that has given her so much. She is also a member of PassGo: An Employment Empowerment Initiative, a student org created by the Eminence Fellows Class of 2018 that works to lower recidivism rates with tax breaks and meaningful employment. If not in class, in lab, or in the dorm, you can find Caro at Integrity Gym where the OSU Club Gymnastics team practices and competes. Caro has a passion for all things animal, nature, and bacteria and takes any opportunity she can to look at a broken bone, watch blood being drawn, or help disinfect a cut. She loves the hospital setting and is passionate about helping spread accessible, affordable healthcare to those in less privileged countries.
