About Me

Lindsey Orozco

Hello, and welcome to my e-portfolio. My name is Lindsey Orozco and I am majoring in Biochemistry and considering a minor in Spanish. I grew up in Troy, Ohio and lived there all my life until now, but I am very happy to call The Ohio State University my home. Growing up, my parents raised me to be interested in many subjects and activities, and to ask questions often. When I picture my life in Troy, two images come to mind: the six lane swimming pool at the local YMCA where I spent my nights swimming back and forth, and my backyard where I relaxed on the grass with a good book and the best pet dog a girl could ask for. I have an older sister, who is a junior at OSU, and a younger brother, who just started high school.

The older I grew, the more school started to make sense for me. I learned much more than textbook material, and that was and is what makes school such an exciting place for me. To me, school offers an opportunity to be around great minds and knowledge. It is up to the dedicated learner to seek out chances to connect with others and learn from them. Because I find myself fascinated by others and their behaviors, I have discovered I learn best from talking or lecture-style teaching. I take notes and make personal connections either on my paper or in my mind. Often in lectures, the instructor asks a few questions and I learn well from that type of teach-then-ask interaction.

As a learner, I am most curious about all the life around me. My greatest interests are comprised of other living animals and the way we survive. At OSU, I hope to discover more meaning and connections between the different species on Earth. I hope to understand the causes and effects and ramifications one being can have on another. The concept of a chain reaction has always been interesting to me, and I believe OSU will have many resource to teach me how and why important world events occur.

Professionally, I plan to graduate from OSU with a strong path leading me towards medical school. Although I am unsure what type of doctor I want to be, it is very important to me that I help others everyday for the rest of my life. I plan to have a job where I can test my mind’s limits and learn as I impact the world around me. If I have a job in a clinic, hospital, or research institution in ten years, I will be happily working on my career goal.
