Developing Effective Time-Management Skills

Time management is difficult for many people to obtain  due to its difficulty of balancing personal responsibilities and work tasks. Tips are provided on how to best manage one’s time, it is encouraged to apply these tips to see which works best to end one’s path of procrastination.

Time management requires discipline and a strong attitude and if one is working hard towards it, it will definitely pay off in terms of higher productivity and lower stress levels.

My Personal Experiences and Takeaways

Procrastination

Many individuals have struggled with procrastination and have faced the consequences because of such. I have been a victim of falling into the hands of procrastination and have faced the consequences that came with it. I have created a positive environment by building strong connections with my peers and professors and have managed tasks by developing a routine in which I can best achieve my tasks. Through the readings and my experiences, I have taken into account the idea of becoming a self-regulated learner and monitoring my own behavior and motivation, and setting goals to attain them.

S.M.A.R.T Goals

Online learning can be flexible, to remain motivated one could set S.M.A.R.T. goals in which one identifies specifically what one wants to achieve and why one wants to achieve them. Assure that goals are measurable by giving a time-frame or any cost amounts that entail achieving your goal. Assure that your goal is achievable and attainable and identify how they will be accomplished them. Make sure that your goals are relevant and that they matter and that you’re doing them for the right reasons. And lastly, administer a time frame in which you want to complete your goal, and stick with that time frame. Establishing S.M.A.R.T. goals will boost self-confidence and allow you to meet deadlines when needed when it comes to your academics.

Time-Management

Time management is an important to skill to have because when working on an important task or planning any responsibility, it is beneficial to have an organized schedule and be productive with the allotted time given with or without a specific deadline. The idea of motivation was explored and it being the driving force in setting and attaining one’s objectives. Through this class, it was important for me to realize the effects of not putting in the effort to complete my tasks. It was also emphasized that I need to have the correct attitude to drive my motivation in order to complete tasks efficiently.

Online Collaboration

The most important element in online collaboration is communication. Having great and effective communication skills impacts the overall goal/task that was implemented by you and your group members. I have always had a problem working with others effectively in sharing the workload of assignments, assessing the leadership roles within the group and organizing meetings and creating schedules to complete tasks. The idea of self-expression was introduced and its advantages with working with others to explore their ideas and interests in a group.
