My name is Alaney Oney, and I am a Health Sciences scholar student at the Ohio State University. Currently, I am studying Nutrition Sciences with a Pharmaceutical Science minor on a pre-PA track. Previously, I have worked in an optometrist’s office, and I am also a nursing assistant so that I can gain exposure to the healthcare field. Working in the optometrist’s office in my hometown confirmed my decision to enter into the healthcare field. Personally, I hope to one day become certified physician assistant and work in primary care. In my free time, I love to read, watch movies, and get involved. At Ohio State, I am involved in the Health Sciences program as a peer mentor and a lead teaching assistance for a scholars seminar class. Additionally, I have participated in Buckeyethon every year, and I tutor at a nearby elementary school. I am also a member of the Future Buckeye Physician Assistants club, and I have my DICE certification, a program which promotes diversity and inclusion among all groups of people.
