About Me

Hi my name is Nicholas Ondrejko, and I am a freshman at THE Ohio State University. I am a member of the Honors & Scholars community and chose to live in Lincoln House to be on a floor with fellow Honors students. If I had to choose a few general characteristics to describe myself, I would classify myself as a dedicated, honest person who always strives to do my best. While this seems like a cookie-cutter, easy response, I truly believe that I work hard to stick to my morals and achieve my goals. This method set seemed to work well in the high school setting, and I am sure that sticking to it will continue to produce positive results.
I was born in Ohio but moved to Pennsylvania
for the entirety of my K-12 education. Toward the middle of my senior year in high school I finally decided that I wanted to pursue a major in which I could combine engineering and business. Through this realization, Industrial Engineering was an easy decision. I want to be able to take this degree and be a plant manager or in a management position of a corporation so that I can effectively transfer information between the engineers and businessmen. This past summer I worked at a manufacturing company where I worked in an assembly line for the most part. I am glad that I had the opportunity to interact with the Industrial Engineers at their facility and see the types of projects that they are working on the reduce production time, eliminate excessive waste, and increase packaging efficiency. I would love to have the opportunity to pursue internships here at OSU as soon as possible to get more work experience and narrow down my job focus to what I am most passionate about.

One extracurricular that I was involved with during high school was my school’s leadership academy. Through learning what leadership entails and how to make myself a better leader, I feel that I am very good at being a leader who is capable of maximizing his team’s strengths. I am so glad that I was involved in this program because I believe it prepares me for the group work that I will face in college as well as team interactions in the workforce.

So far as a student I have joined the Ultimate Frisbee club and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. I played four years of frisbee in high school, and I want to continue the sport as a way to release stress and stay in shape. The IISE at Ohio State is a great way to network with upperclassmen and have my name out there for companies that contact OSU looking for Industrial Engineers.
