Year in Review
[ “Year in Review” is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student. You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year. G.O.A.L.S.
- Global Awareness: Next semester I am taking an anthropology class that will hopefully give me a look into different cultures and how diverse they are throughout the world. I also hope to eventually do service projects outside of the US over the summer with Doctors Without Borders and other service organizations.
- Original Inquiry: I was able to do a mini research project in Bio 1114H on endophytes and their presence in different plants. I am hoping to continue research throughout my academic career at OSU. I plan on starting research next year and will hopefully be able to do research at Stone Lab next summer.
- Academic Enrichment: My current biology major will help me get prepared for the MCAT because my goal is to eventually go to medical school. The courses I am taking are all courses that will help me prepare for medical school and make me a better doctor in the future. The GE courses I am taking next semester will hopefully open my eyes to new cultures and broaden my horizons when it comes to learning about different people. By doing this I believe I will be a better doctor and more successful in medical school.
- Leadership Development: I plan on gaining a leadership position in the clubs I am a part of in the future. This will help me gain leadership experience on a college campus. Already, the clubs I am in have contributed to my leadership ability because I have to lead small events in Humanity First and help people understand what is going on. These opportunities have helped me learn how different a college campus is and to make myself more outgoing and open to different things.
- Service Engagement: I am part of the clubs Humanity First and Doctors Without Borders, both of these are service organizations. So far I have worked with Humanity First where we made blankets for patients at the hospital on campus. Humanity First also held a basketball tournament to help raise money for charity and I helped pass out fliers and recruited people for the event.

Artifacts
[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation. An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.
