Deputy Regional Administrator for the Great Lakes Region FAA
Sean Doyle joined the FAA in 2016 and began serving as Deputy Regional Administrator for the Great Lakes Region in July 2022 where he supports the Regional Administrator in providing cross-organizational leadership, as well as program and staff management in support of regional
stakeholders. Sean entered federal service with the FAA as an aviation noise expert in the FAA Office of Environment and Energy, where he was responsible for managing aircraft noise research and policy programs and served as Senior Aviation Noise Specialist providing technical leadership within the division. Sean has provided leadership on programs to understand the impact on aircraft noise on communities and the development of methodologies to assess the potential for noise concerns from emerging technology vehicles.
Prior to joining the FAA, Sean entered his career in aviation as an airport consultant providing technical expertise for a wide array of airport and airspace related environmental projects, including providing technical consulting services and project management for client focused environmental aviation noise evaluation projects. Having conducted assessments for all major U.S. Federal environmental noise evaluation programs Sean is an expert National Environmental Policy Act practitioner as well as an expert on the policies and practices for airport and airspace noise compatibility planning.
Sean holds B.S. degrees in both Physics and Astronomy from the University of Washington, is a graduate of the American University, Key Executive Leadership Certificate Program, and also holds a single engine private pilot certificate.
