Hello Buckeye Nation! We have decided to begin making a weekly update every Monday evening so that you can keep with everything the Ohio State Drumline is currently doing. Any announcements regarding sectionals, new music, and anything else we may wish to communicate with you will be included in this update.
For this upcoming week, we will NOT be having our Wednesday night sectionals. However, the following Wednesday (March 18th) we will continue our 7:00pm – 9:00pm rehearsals. This is during Ohio State’s spring break, but we would love to have as many people in attendance as possible.
Just a reminder that sectionals will be tonight, Wednesday, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at the Steinbrenner Band Center. All are welcome, simply bring sticks, music, and a desire to learn and improve your skills as a marching percussionist!
Be sure to head over to the Music page and download the Buckeye Technique packet, Buckeye Beat Down, and Urban Legend pieces, as we will be playing through these tonight and in future rehearsals.
The off-season is here yet again and we will be holding practices again at the Steinbrenner Band Center (1961 Tuttle Park Pl, Columbus) from 7 to 9pm. Anyone is welcome. Whether you’re planning on auditioning at some point or just want to come play with us, these practices are open to anyone and everyone! The only things to bring are some sticks and a positive attitude! Go Buckeyes!
Check out the Ohio State Drumline’s new post Skull Session mashup show! This was the debut showing of the performance, and there is plenty more to come! Performances will occur directly following Skull Sessions in the grassy knoll to the south of St. John’s arena. We hope to see you there for our next performance against Rutgers on October 18th!
Auditions for the 2014 edition of TBDBITL are less than two weeks away, and the information regarding the playing portion of the tryout for the OSUDL have been officially released! The audition piece for each instrument has been attached below. If you’re planning on trying out, please take a look at the Audition tab to get a full overview of what is required for each instrument in the audition.
The fist week of Summer Sessions 2014 is complete! Already we’re seeing a lot of effort and drive by everyone attending. So congratulate yourselves if you’ve been showing up.
First off, if you are a candidate or vet trying out again, make sure you join the Facebook group: Summer Session JI-Row, as well as the band’s official group: OSUMB Summer Sessions (Official Group). These will help you get updates on what we’re learning as well as when squad leaders/vets are available to help you.
Second, make sure you’re practicing school songs and cadences along with the technique warmups. We’re going to start marching and playing very soon (this coming Thursday).
Finally, SIGN UP FOR TRYOUTS if you haven’t already.
As I said in last nights meeting: those of you trying out have the opportunity to be in something very special this coming year. This season the OSUDL is going to do some things that will put us in the spotlight. Get excited. Get focused. Go Bucks!
June 10th marks the start of the OSUMB’s Summer Sessions. These will be preparation for trying out for The Best Damn Band in the Land. Report is 5:30pm on Tuesday at the Steinbrenner Band Center in Ohio Stadium. We’ll see you there!
We are excited about our future as an organization moving forward and look forward to working with our new leadership team and with all those that come and audition for the Ohio State Drumline! Go Bucks!
