Beyond the Classroom Monthly: Shongo Networks

These monthly virtual workshops are open to students in grades 6 -12 who explore math through engaging activities.

Kids in Congo play a game by drawing traditional shapes in the sand without lifting the stick. Mathematicians call these Shongo networks. The same designs often appear in woven handcrafts. In this workshop, we study which patterns can be successfully drawn for the game and which ones do not work. #MarchMathness #Ohio4H  #SpringintoSTEM
