If a certain number of dogs and ducks have 30 heads and 100 feet, how many of each are there?
If all were ducks, there would be 60 feet. But there are 100. Each dog replacing a duck adds two feet to the total. Adding 40 feet means adding 20 dogs, leaving 10 ducks.
20 x 4 + 10 x 2 = 100.
