Infographic Budget Sheet

My first learning objective for my portfolio is as follows:

  •  Incoming freshmen will be able to calculate their final out-of-pocket cost after financial aid is applied by using the Budget Planner Sheet.

This asset is a two-page (printed) infographic/budget sheet. I would use this object in addition to in-person instruction at new, first-year student orientation. This product would be delivered as a printed/hard copy, so I have scaled it to appear as a front-and-back 8.5×11 sheet of paper. I would also host a version of this (as a printable PDF) on my financial aid information page on our website, though it is meant to be used in the in-person (hard copy) setting.

This budget sheet is designed as a flowchart with clear, easy-to-understand steps for incoming students and their families to fill in their costs. Not every bubble will be filled in for every student (ie a student may not be paying for health insurance) so I have tried to indicate additional information or resources as necessary.

The design of this asset is meant to be simple so that first generation college students will not be so intimidated by the often stressful process of budgeting and figuring out exactly what they are paying for. This is not a stand-alone asset—it is meant to serve as an additional resource to my in-person instruction.
