Day 1

May 24, 2025

Our first dinner as a group at Olivia’s, a popular Italian restaurant in Oslo, Norway. Ohio State University students and professors had the opportunity to try Italian food and spend some time with four Norwegian students. It was a great dinner; the food was chef’s kiss, and the green iced tea was spectacular. The whole group had so much fun, and we got to know our Norwegian friends better. Our Norwegian friends helped us interpret when there was any type of language barrier, which was very kind of them. They also love Italian food and many different cuisines that are also found in the U.S. We look forward to our next meals together, as it is always a great opportunity to grow closer, learn more about each other, and share differences and similarities of nursing and healthcare in general in both the U.S. and Norway.

After our dinner we went grocery shopping, which was also a wonderful experience. The prices were about the same from the U.S. but definitely there was more variety of healthy food options that people can buy, which is extremely important to have the chance to obtain healthy food/products to grow strong and healthy. Walking to Olivia’s and the market I realized that Norway has very clean streets, which helps with climate change. Climate change is a crucial public health issue that must be addressed around the world—The Norway community is doing a fantastic job at helping reduce climate change by having their streets clean, their ideas and community collaboration to maintain their streets clean could help streets in the U.S. to stay clean as well.
