Thoracolumbosacral Orthoses (TLSO)
Molded thermoplastic body jacket with anterior, posterior, or bi-valved openings
Control Function
- Restricts forward flexion/extension in thoracic and lumbar spine
- Restricts lateral trunk motion
- Limits thoracolumbar rotation
- Unloads vertebral bodies and discs through elevation of intra-abdominal pressure
Indications for Brace:
- Ususally used with T6-T10 fractures
- Can have sternal pads in front for wome with large breasets
- Patients who have ostomies will need a cutout for the ostomy
- Custom TLSO: the front piece overlaps the back
Motion Limited:
- Limits all movement
