Post Conference Experience
-Critical thinking and understanding the “why” of nursing
- Choose a patient to use as a case study.
- Have the primary student present the H&P and basic assessment.
- Have students ask questions they think are relevant to the patient situation with the primary student providing more information as questions are asked.
- Ask students why they are asking the questions they are and the importance of knowing the specific information.
- Ask what the priorities should be for the patient and why.
- If an intervention is suggested ask why they think it should be done and what effect do they expect to see. (ie. Patient with fluid overload needing Lasix)
- Ask what they want to monitor with each intervention.
- Ask what/who are the available resources if they have questions or concerns
