I am a nurse at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH. I currently work in the UH/Ross Progressive Care Unit Float Pool where I am able to float to 16 different units. I have been a nurse for 15 years with experience in medical-surgical, oncology, rapid response, progressive care or step down, emergency room, and observation unit nursing. I have a certification in medical-surgical nursing (CMSRN) and oncology nursing (OCN).
I am passionate about preparing nurses to be successful in any healthcare environment because I had some of the best instructors and preceptors which has helped me to be successful in anything I have attempted in my nursing career. This recently prompted me to work with my nurse educator and complete an Evidence Based Practice project which developed a preceptorship guide for my unit. The objective for this project is to streamline orientation and have the best possible learning experience for the preceptor and orientee. We believe following this guide will help the new nurse to have increased confidence in their practice, increase staff satisfaction, and decrease staff turnover.
