Initial Project Brainstorming

For this project, I intend to expand on a project from a previous class – a series of animations about a witch and her day-to-day adventures. These can be found on my Vimeo. For this project, I decided I’d like to do a series of illustrations about this same character. I want these to be a cohesive sequence that tell a story without animation or text to accompany it. Below I’m providing some steps about how I can develop this idea.

The first consideration I have is how to design the character and settle on style. Because she is no longer animated, it allows me a lot of room to add more detail to her design. Then I will need to decide on a narrative to carry through the work. The last step I need is to determine the pacing and flow, which scenes in the narrative do I want to illustrate.

The following images are samples of my own artwork that contain style elements I want to implement in this project.

I want to include background details and effects like the fist image, and more complex shading like in the 2nd
