Statement of action

In order to achieve my goals I have a set statement of action.

In order to achieve more academic success, I intend to spend my time even more wisely and more at the library and possibly form more study groups.

Extracurricular activities I hope to increase is making myself even more involved in volunteering and possibly join a long term research lab to improve my hands-on skills. Currently I have a internship in a hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Finally I hope to become a part of an osu club or organisation that is related to the health profession and I will do this by exploring many options available in the next academic year.

Vision Statement

I have many goals that I hope to accomplish and amongst them include my main hope to become a doctor. If I could any speciality I am currently interested in it would be endocrinology or dermatology. In order to reach this I have a set out vision statement. I hope to achieve much academic and extracurricular success in the remainder of my undergraduate career. I would like to be involved even more by joining various clubs and taking on more leadership roles and working on managing my time even better.

Finalized Abstract

My e-portfolio contains information covering some events I have completed in the Biological Sciences Scholars program. Also my end of year reflections can be found on a yearly basis that show what I have learned and taken out of each academic year. Furthermore, my GOALS and Career information can also be found and are part of my daily lives and in the future. As an addition, information about some experiences I have done such as volunteering can also be seen and give some insight on what I do on an occasional basis.

End of second year reflection

In this academic year I had a variety of different upperclassmen courses that really expanded the way I think about theories i have learned in previous semesters. One class for instance was my biology 3401 course where i learned much more about my major in depth and how what i have learned is applicable in our lives onĀ  a daily basis. In terms of volunteering and other opportunities, I am a volunteer at the James Cancer Hospital, CHA Shelter, and Asian Health Initiative Free Clinic. These places have helped me develop in my career and help to put me into my field of interest. Furthermore, I will have an internship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and will utilize what I have learned in my previous volunteer places. Overall, I learned a great amount from my academic courses as well as from many peers as well. Other senior biosci students were in some of my courses as well and I learned valuable information from them about the program and its benefits.

Visual connecting to goals

This was part of my biology 1114 labs and this will relate in the long term in terms of my major and how I can take what I learned in to future exams such as the MCAT. I grew in the sense as I learned how to be more practical in what I learn in theory.

Cadaver Lab

The Cadaver Lab was an event I did at Hamilton Hall as part of the bio-sci scholars program. I was able to get an idea of basic anatomy and I got to view and touch different organs and tissues and learn a lot about the human body. This is incredibly beneficial as it applies to my career goal and I got to build some friendships when we were divided into groups to examine different bodies.

End of Semester Reflection

My first semester here at OSU has been very significant and the experience I got is unmatched to anything I have done before. I have participated in a variety of volunteering opportunities such as Canned Good Donations and Zero Waste. These service events were exceptional as they were one of my first steps in volunteeringĀ  and opened doors to other opportunities that I have yet to explore. I want to further be involved by signing up for unique clubs and courses that interest me. Also, I have devoted much more time to studying that helps me gain more knowledge and see the practical uses of what I learn which is often even shown in group work. I want to further ripen my skills and abilities by participating in research next year and possibly volunteering at a medical clinic to have exposure to what to expect in the near future as a biology major. Staying in Biological Sciences Scholars can help me pursue such activities and even help me establish myself as a successful student here at The Ohio State University.

G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness is being open to all cultures and traditions and expanding one’s exposure. I like to make friends with people from as many different countries as possible and explore there ideologies and perhaps apply it to my own lifestyle. This can perhaps come into much use if I study abroad.
Original Inquiry is participating in challenging and more engaging activities besides just in-class experiences. I have taken a leadership role in my high school where i created events for younger grades such as science fairs, spelling bees, etc. I hope to expand my knowledge here by volunteering at clinics and engaging in research labs. This will provide insight in my scope of biology and meet many new people.
Academic Enrichment is using educational experiences to a full potential both in and out of class. I often go to the tutoring and help sessions for chemistry and calculus and this will allow me to gather a learning experience that can give me a boost in my coursework.
Leadership Development is putting your skills to the test and leading a group towards a goal or success. As mentioned, earlier, i was an Academic Senior Prefect and i took the leadership to make enriched events for younger grades.

Service Engagement is to effectively support those in need in a society or community. I have been to a few charity events to help people raise money for people with various diseases who cannot afford for themselves. Here at OSU, I hope to be involved even medically to help and master my major.
