
Abdul Rehman Akbar is a dedicated researcher at the AI4Path Lab, where he works under the supervision of Dr. Niazi to advance computational pathology and precision medicine. With a robust background in computer science, software engineering, and AI leadership, Abdul brings a wealth of technical expertise and strategic insight to the lab’s mission. Before beginning his Ph.D., he served as a Product Owner for AI at a Swiss startup, where he led the development of large language model (LLM)-based solutions for contact centers, significantly reducing response times across text and audio channels. His ability to manage cross-functional teams, craft practical solutions, and align technology with business needs has enabled him to deliver impactful results in real-world applications.
At the AI4Path Lab, Abdul focuses on leveraging deep learning and AI to revolutionize cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and transplant immunology. He actively contributes to the lab’s key initiatives, including interpretable AI, imaging biomarkers, and multi-modal data integration, with the goal of improving clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
