G.O.A.L.S

Hi everyone! Listed below are my G.O.A.L.S for the 2019/2020 school year!

Global Awareness

– I am currently involved in the Vietnamese Student Association where I hope to strengthen my cultural roots. I plan to join other cultural organizations to learn more about other ethnicities and how they are similar and different to my own. I also hope to participate in a study abroad at some point during my undergraduate years in order to immerse myself into the culture of another place.

Original Inquiry

– In order to prepare myself well for any future careers, it is necessary to gain experience through research. I plan to be involved in research by sophomore year, hopefully with a focus on Alzheimer’s Disease. To prepare myself for future research, I will take advanced coursework which will allow me to be more prepared for the skills needed as a researcher. I will likely take more science courses that have a lab so I will be more familiar with laboratory procedures. I hope to write a thesis or publish a research paper.

Academic Enrichment

– My planned curriculum will prepare me for my potential future careers. I hope to become a physician, possibly specializing in neurology. I plan to take a few neuroscience courses to become learn more about the brain and uncover whether it is the field I would like to pursue. I may minor in computer science or business which will help improve my job prospects. I am considering computer science because technology is rapidly changing and having a major effect on healthcare. I would like to remain relevant to upcoming technological advancements in the healthcare field. I am considering business because it would likely provide a foundation if I decide to pursue private practice. It is also a useful major because the skills learned can be applied to real-life interactions.

Leadership Development

– I hope to be involved in a small number of organizations but hold a leadership role in those organizations. I would like to join a service organization and further my involvement in VSA and Buckeyethon. Holding a leadership position will allowing me to practice my skills in organizing and executing my plans. I will also have the opportunity to use my knowledge to come up with events that will contribute to our purpose as an organization. As a leader, I enjoy listening to people’s ideas and finding ways to incorporate them into the final plan, making sure that those adjustments still fulfill our goals. I do not believe any voice should go unheard.

Service Engagement

– I would like to join an organization that has long-term projects rather than doing projects that last a day. I will happily participate in both but I enjoy doing service on a consistent basis. I am still searching for possible service organizations to join. I hope my service projects will allow me to connect with my community and contribute to it. Service will also allow me to stay relevant to the issues impacting our current community. I hope to remain active in resolving these issues. I am very excited to perform service!
