About Me

I am Alexandra Ng from Katy, Texas and I am now attending the Ohio State University. My passion for problem solving applications and STEM subjects, along with my wish to help others, has led me to selecting Biomedical Engineering as my major. In addition, I love to volunteer and do my part for the community, making the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program the perfect combination of both my academic and philanthropic interests.

In the past, I have always been fascinated with the aspects of engineering and biology. I found opportunities to explore these subjects through internships and jobs that involved working alongside professionals that I could learn from. These experiences solidified my decision to pursue a profession in biomedical engineering. They also reminded me of why I am working so hard to get a degree in the first place: people. I know I could not have achieved what I have and hope to achieve without the support of friends, family, and even complete strangers. Every conversation and experience I have ever had has impacted the person I am today. I hope to return the favor by developing the skills necessary to help those in need.

My goal is to eventually find a career that will have a positive impact on the world and challenge me to continue growing in knowledge and experience within my field of study.

My top five strengths include woo, ideation, positivity, adaptability, and includer. I can relate to the woo theme because I genuinely enjoy striking up conversations with new people and connecting with others. Interacting with people of all types and living in the moment is a big part of who I am. Ideation is prevalent in my life because I am always coming up with unique ideas for problems and for fun. I am always finding ways to create solutions and look at projects from different perspectives. Also, I am a naturally enthusiastic person and try to see the positives in every situation. I acknowledge the accomplishments of myself and others so I can appreciate the goodness of the world. In addition, I am highly adaptable and enjoy the challenge of a new, spontaneous situation. I am capable of adjusting to different environments and can complete tasks under changing circumstances. Finally, I am very accepting of others and make an effort to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be involved in activities. I work well in groups and easily help new members feel welcome.
