About Me

I am Makayla Newman and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am a Pre- Athletic Training major in the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. In the future, I hope to obtain not only my B.S. in Athletic Training but return to school and receive a Masters degree in Sports Psychology. I have always wanted to pursue something in a health-related field and I found the environment that accompanies athletic training fits well with my personality. I will be able to help athletes that may be experiencing things I have gone through while still being surrounded by the sports environment. Sports medicine is a great passion of mine. I thoroughly enjoy learning about how the body works as one unit to create movement, how injuries occur and how to prevent and treat them. I also am passionate about the art of Dance and hope to work with a professional company as an athletic trainer someday. I have been dancing since I was two years old and would love to be able to look at it from a new more medical perspective. Academically, I love a good challenge and continuously like to be pushed outside of my comfort zone. I am also very strong when it comes to determination and teamwork. When not in class, I currently assists at a local dance studio teaching younger kids who aspire to pursue dance professionally. I also enjoy spending free time exercising and volunteering, especially with special needs kids.
