The internship is a meaningful capstone experience through which students practice their professional writing skills in a relevant workplace setting. We’re proud of the responsibility and trust our workplace partners bestow upon our students, and we’re proud of the quality writing work our students contribute to their internship host organizations. The following is a partial list of the kinds of writing-related work students have done at their internships.
- Composing tweets, blogs, and articles for Broadway + Thresher, a national magazine
- Writing grant proposals for the Licking County Health Department
- Preparing marketing and management materials for the start-up of the Canal Market District
- Building brochures, videos, and the annual report for The Works
- Researching and writing historical summaries and creating social media posts for the Licking County Library
- Putting together written inserts for student scholarships, donor letters, and donor profiles for the Newark Campus Development Office
- Creating everything from patient information sheets to news articles to games for Licking Memorial Health Systems
- Crafting a website to digitally connect the National Association of Agricultural Fair Agencies
- Building a yearbook and a website for the Licking County Chamber of Commerce
- Writing press releases and profiles, and maintaining databases for the Newark Campus Marketing and Public Relations Office
- Updating statistics on the Newark Campus Development Fund’s website
