America’s Bombpop

With the lackluster unveiling of the USMNT home kit, you could say the away kit unveiling has had the opposite effect.  The colors are red, white and blue as you would expect but the red and blue are much brighter than what is represented on the US flag.  Nike has also introduced a new unique name and number font with the US Soccer crest featured throughout. Clint Dempsey is quoted saying, “I like the patriotic design and color scheme…” but he has to say that doesn’t he?  Fans has ridiculed it, likening it to a popsicle called a “Bomb Pop”.  Also, some didn’t believe it was real because the unveiling was on April Fools Day.  I personally like the new kit and think they are a major improvement over the 1994 kit. We got to see them in action last night as the USMNT tied rivals Mexico.
