9/26/17 Entry #3

Last night, I had one of the strangest dreams in a long time. It started with me waking up on the first day of work at my new job with hair down past my shoulders, despite the fact that it had only been a couple of inches when I had gone to sleep! I decided I had to go get my hair cut immediately. When I was getting my hair cut, the barber started by just trimming up initially, so I proceeded to tell him that I wanted it cut much shorter. To my dismay, he refused to cut it any shorter and kicked me out! At this point, I was forced to go to work with my long hair. When I arrived, though, I was fired immediately for showing up late since apparently you cannot miss work to get your hair cut.

This dream presents several images. First, I could have a picture of me waking up in shock to my newfound long hair. Second, I could have a picture of me at the barber asking him to cut my hair shorter and him refusing. Third, I could have a picture of me showing up to work late and being fired for it.

I could use several elements of art and principles of design. I could incorporate texture into the image with my long flowing hair. I could also use the hair to guide the viewer’s eyes in certain directions, thus utilizing movement. Finally, in the image of me waking up confused by my new hair, I could fill the space around myself in order to overwhelm the viewer and portray the sense of confusion that I was feeling in the image.

9/19/17: Entry #2

Last night, I had a dream in which I was at an Ohio State football game except, instead of J.T. Barrett, Aaron Rodgers was our quarterback. Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers and arguably the greatest quarterback in the league. In the game, Rodgers threw a perfect 40 yard pass that would have been a touchdown, but the pass was dropped. All of my friends around me immediately began complaining about Rodgers and claimed that J.T. Barrett was far superior. Urban Meyer, coach of the Buckeyes, then pulled out Aaron Rodgers and replaced him with Barrett, at which time I woke up from this horrible nightmare.

In order to convert this narrative into a visual representation, I could first have a picture of Aaron Rodgers throwing a perfect pass to the end zone. My next picture could be of the receiver dropping the easy catch. I could then have a picture of my friends yelling at me, and finally I could have a picture of Rodgers walking off of the field while Barrett is walking onto it.

Several elements of art and principles of design could be incorporated into these images. I could incorporate movement into the picture of Rodgers throwing the pass since it would be natural for the eyes of the viewer to follow the play from the quarterback, to the ball, and then to the intended receiver. Additionally, I could change the value of the pictures in the sequence. The initial images would be brighter when Rodgers is the quarterback, but the image with Barrett coming into play would be darker in order to point out the worsening quarterback situation. Finally, contrast would be present in the final picture of Rodgers walking off the field, while Barrett is walking onto the field. The juxtaposition of the best quarterback in the world being benched for an average college quarterback would emphasize the absurdity of the situation.

9/4/17: Entry #1
Last night, I had a dream in which my friend Andrew and I were house sitting for my neighbors, whom I did not know very well. Everything was going fine, until we heard a banging on the door. I looked at a window and saw a mysterious clown, similar to Pennywise from It, and we immediately ran back to my house. The next night (still in the dream) I was with my family and saw police cars lined up outside of the house I was at the night before. I wondered what had happened that night, but I never was able to find out because I then woke up from my dream.
I could transform this dream into real life images by creating pictures of two people in a house, a mysterious, clown-like figure peeking through a window, two people running away from a house scared for their lives, and/or a person looking out to a house surrounded by police cars. I could utilize several Elements of Art and Principles of design. Value would be used heavily since the pictures should be dark in order to convey the horrors of the situation. Movement could be used in the form of two people running along a road away from a house. Your eyes would probably tend to follow along the road if created correctly. Finally, I could use spacing in order to focus the attention of the pictures on the important aspects of the dream such as the clown.
