Greetings from 2097 Summit

In creating this postcard, I decided that I wanted to showcase the house in which I live in order to show the viewer how fun and inviting of a place it can be. I used my phone in order to take these pictures, uploaded them to my computer, and then used Adobe Illustrator to create the image. In order to make the text three dimensional, I used the “extrude and bevel” effect. Also, to imprint an image on each of the letters, I created a clipping mask. Finally, I layered an image on top of my text and background in Photoshop in order to give the postcard an “old time” feel.

Several Elements of Art and Principles of Design were incorporated into my image. I used color in making the outline of the text bright green. The bright green portrays happy, inviting messages. Green is also a natural color which corresponds to the setting of my house. Additionally, I used movement with the waving text in order to draw the viewer’s eyes across the screen. Finally, I used emphasis by placing my text in the center of the screen. This focuses the viewer’s eyes on the images within the text, which is the primary focus of the image.

There was no critique in class, but if there was one, then I would have modified my image accordingly.
