CHLOROTHALONIL
Chlorothalonil is made up of 8 Carbon atoms,
Chlorothalonil is classified as a broad spectrum that is used for fungi that affects vegetables, fruits and other food product. Chlorothalonil has other uses such as wood protectant, used in the manufacturing of paint and on ornamental sites. Products that contain Chlorothalonil are normally sold under the Bravo, Echo and Daconil
Chlorothalonil is available in different forms of formulation such as powdered, pelleted or tablet, liquid suspension, soluble and other forms.
Mechanism of Action of Chlorothalonil
This involves Chlorothalonil reaction with thiol groups of the pathogenic fungi’s enzyme system. Chlorothalonil deactivates actions of glutathione.
Toxicological effects
Chlorothalonil is a severe eye irritant. When inhaled, I t can cause moderate toxic effect. However, its toxicity level becomes very high via oral or dermal exposure. Thus, its toxicity level can be classified based of the following categories;
I – for eye irritation, II – for inhalation and III – for oral and dermal toxicities and IV- for dermal irritation.
