About Me

Hi! My name is Mahrukh Naqvi, and I am a first year undergraduate student at the Ohio State University! I am pursuing a degree in public health and am currently considering a sociology track. As a a Health Sciences Scholar within Ohio State’s Honors and Scholars program, I am able to meet other students with similar career goals to mine. I look forward to HSS serving as a gateway for exposure to volunteering opportunities to help members of the Columbus community and networking opportunities for professionals in my desired field. In the future, I hope to work in a career focusing on helping children and serving underprivileged populations, specifically focusing on the subsequent disparities created by access to inadequate healthcare. Ohio State’s numerous programs involving public health and medicine will aid my hope to help youth within the Columbus community, as well as internationally. Although I was born in Islamabad, Pakistan, I grew up in Dublin, Ohio. Being able to experience these two vastly different cultures has definitely shaped my perspective, as I’ve understood how the access to healthcare can shape a community. I hope to use Ohio State’s numerous opportunities to serve as a springboard for exploring, and even shaping the healthcare community both locally and internationally.
