About my Strengths

After taking the VIA Character Strengths Assessment, I determined that my top 5 strengths are:

1.) Forgiveness. I think this is accurate because I always give people several chances to fix their mistakes. I believe that we are all human and all make mistakes, which just leads us to learn valuable lessons.

2.) Humor. I think my humor is a huge part of who I am because people have always told me that I’m funny, and I take a lot of pride in my sense of humor. My dad is the funniest man I know, and he’s one of my role models, so I think it makes sense.

3.) Kindness. Similarly to forgiveness, I try my best to always be nice to everyone no matter what. Several people have told me that I am “too nice for my own good”, but I think that’s better than being mean for any reason.

4.) Judgment. I think I have good judgment because I usually have good judgment & stay out of trouble. Everyone makes mistakes but mine are usually small in comparison to others (mine are usually staying up too late, drinking too much coffee, etc.).

5.) Love of Learning. I believe that this is one of my top strengths because I am interested in learning about many different things. When I find things particularly interesting, I always try to learn as much as I can so I can understand it better.

Artifacts

My dance group, Stylez, is extremely important to me. Everyone in the group is kind and funny, and there is an overall positive environment that I could not be happier with. While a dance team is not always thought to have anything to do with academics, I believe it has made me better in several aspects of life. It has only been about a month but I have already made new friends, gained confidence, and felt more motivated to wake up and be productive each day. My dance team makes me feel happy and motivated which has made me healthier and more successful in school. I’m excited to continue to improve myself and see where this takes me in the future with my academics and beyond.

About Me

Hello! I’m Natalie and I am currently exploring the Engineering Program. I have not yet figured out which major I am most interested in, because they are all interesting in their own way. I am extremely interested in mathematics and always trying to develop a deeper understanding of the subject. Math has always been one of my favorite things to do, along with puzzles and dancing. This year I am a member of Stylez, a hip-hop group here at OSU. I enjoy it very much and I’m looking forward to getting more involved during my time here. One of my goals is to use my education and experience to better the lives of others. That is why I chose the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program, I wanted to learn how to help others through engineering. I grew up in Grove City, which is about 15 minutes south of campus. I’ve been in Columbus my whole life but I’m so excited to experience the city as a student!
