Welcome to the Applied Health Systems Science Program!
The Applied Health Systems Science Course is a longitudinal experience designed to deliver competency in applied health system science not achieved in other areas of the LSI curriculum. The physician reference competencies included in this course are Systems-Based Practice, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, and Professionalism. In Part One, the focus is on basic health systems understanding, care coordination, population health, and patient safety. Part 2 emphasizes quality improvement and informatics. In Part 3, the course culminates in a capstone quality improvement project that student groups complete in the clinical arena of their choice.
