University Policies

University COVID Policies

COVID policies for the OSU community and visitors are constantly evolving. Ohio State has a vaccine mandate and >93% of the OSU community is vaccinated. There is not a vaccine requirement for campus visitors. For the most up-to-date information on OSU COVID policies and procedures, please click HERE to visit the Safe and Healthy Buckeyes site.

Masking requirements were revised beginning March 11th at 6 pm. Masks are optional in most settings on all Ohio State campuses, including general-purpose buildings, residence halls, dining facilities, classrooms, offices and the Ohio Union. Masks are also optional outdoors and on campus transportation (e.g. CABS buses). Masks are required in clinical health care settings (including at the Wexner Medical Center), COVID-19 testing locations, and child care centers.

OSU is a tobacco-free campus

Ohio State has adopted a tobacco free policy. The use of all types of tobacco products is prohibited in all university buildings and on all university-owned properties, including parking lots, garages, and all outside areas. Links to the full policy can be found HERE.

Free WiFi for OSU Visitors

The WiFi@OSU wireless network is provided by the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Guests can use WiFi@OSU for basic Internet access after accepting the university acceptable use policy. To use this service, connect to WiFi@OSU, open a web browser and go to wireless.osu.edu. Upon being redirected to a login page, review the acceptable use policy and then log in as a guest. After logging in, your device will be allowed 12 hours of internet access after which you will need to log in again.

Campus Housing Policies

There are several rules and regulations for visitors staying in campus housing. We highlight a few below:

  • The check-out time on Sunday has been extended from 11 am to 3 pm.
  • Upon check-in, Summer Conference Housing will issue keys and/or hotel tags to participants. Missing brass keys are charged at a rate of $150.00 per key. For security reasons, it is important that guests keep their room key with them. Guests should lock their door when they are out of the room or sleeping.
  • Conference guests are NOT permitted to consume alcoholic beverages in the residence halls.
  • Overloading or tampering with elevator equipment is prohibited without exception. A good rule of thumb is to limit any elevator to no more than 8 people at a time. If an overloaded elevator gets stuck after normal working hours, it takes at least an hour for emergency maintenance to arrive ($155.00 or more per call).
