Evaluation 1

Emilie consistently demonstrated excellence in her clinical judgment and communication with our patients and providers. Her enthusiasm for working with pediatric and adolescent patients was apparent in each patient visit as she thoroughly prepared for each patient encounter then encouraged each patient and their parent(s) to improve their quality of life by controlling their chronic illness. Her passion for mitigating disease progression and alleviating disparities of health were inspiring. Emilie exemplified compassion and persistence in her patient interviews with poorly-adherent patients who needed redirection to avoid adverse effects and attain control of their chronic disease. She was thoughtful in providing patient education tailored to each patient based on motivational interviewing and the challenges they individually faced. Emilie was an excellent student I could rely on as a colleague beginning with her first week of rotation and had established herself as a tremendous resource by her final week rotation. I am certain she will succeed in her future endeavors and represent the ideals of pharmacy in advancing compassionate and effective patient care!

Evaluation 2

Even after being out for a week with COVID, Emilie was still able to complete the recommended number of hours for this rotation. Prior to being out sick, she had stayed late some days working on her projects, or came in early to work up patients before rounds. During the week she was off-site, she was still able to participate virtually in topic discussions, virtually presented her Five Minute Friday, worked on her case presentation, and completed some case questions from a cardiology PSAP.

Evaluation 3

Emilie completed a drug monograph for Vosoritide this month as well as a couple formal drug information questions mentioned earlier. Emilie is a pleasure to be around, respectful with a calm nature, and easily connects with people. She has a very strong background knowledge base and is able to call on adult guidelines and asks excellent questions that demonstrate her understanding of the patient at a deeper-than-surface level. She is well on her way to developing strong critical thinking skills that will serve her well as a clinical pharmacist. Should she decide to pursue a career in pediatric pharmacy a PGY2 in pediatrics will serve her well for obtaining a strong base in pediatric medicine. I don’t see this as an area needing improvement though! Just something that will come with more time in pediatrics and a pediatric specific residency.

It was a true pleasure having Emilie on rotation this month in the PICU. I wish her all the best!
