The Muskingum County Board of Elections is looking for teens to participate in their Youth at the Booth program.
Here are details on the program:
- Must be 17 years old by the date of the election to work. They also must be a resident of Muskingum County. The next election is a Primary and is scheduled for May 3rd.
- Provides an opportunity to be involved in a community service project and gives hands-on experience assisting citizens with the voting process.
- Students can document this experience to use on a college application, scholarship application, a resume, or a job application.
- Participants are required to attend an election worker training. They would receive $30 for attending a training and $125 for working on Election Day.
- Students would be responsible for getting permission to participate from their parents, teachers, coaches, and employers.
- Some school districts will be open on May 3rd, so students would need to work with their principal to get an excused absence.
- There would also be some paperwork that would need completed by the students and signed by their parents and one of their teachers.
