A letter will be sent this week to private pesticide applicators who are due for recertification in 2021. We have live online, self-paced online, and in-person options available. The letter is available here: Pesticide and Fertilizer Recertification | Muskingum (osu.edu).
A copy of the letter will be mailed via USPS to the applicator’s address on file with the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
I am working on how the Muskingum County Extension Office will be offering pesticide and fertilizer re-certification sessions in 2021. There will be online recertification options available and in-person recertification opportunities. Any in-person programming will adhere to guidelines for mask wearing and social distancing as set forth by the university and the State of Ohio.
An extension has been granted by Ohio House Bill 404 extending the commercial and private pesticide recertification and fertilizer recertification deadline to July 1, 2021, offering additional flexibility to complete continuing education requirements.

TO: Licensed Private Pesticide Applicator and Certified Fertilizer Applicator
You have the opportunity to participate in recertification sessions offered this year in Muskingum County. There are two sessions that start with three hours of Pesticide credits and end with 1 hour of Fertilizer credits. If you have both a Pesticide License and a Fertilizer Certification you will need a total of 4 hours of training.
Session dates are:
Tuesday, February 4, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Thursday, February 6, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Additional training opportunities are available at pested.osu.edu/privaterecertification. Pre-registration is expected. There is a $35.00 fee for thisrecertification session. Checks should be made payable to OSU Extension – Muskingum County and returned with the enclosed registration form 3 days prior to the session you will be attending. This fee is in addition to the $30.00 license fee of the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Send your $30.00 renewal fee to O.D.A., 8995 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 after you have participated in a recertification session. Bring your pesticide card or pesticide license number with you to the meeting. Please call if you have a question. Specific questions about your license can be directed to ODA at 1-800-282-1955. Letters will be sent through postal service from the Ohio Department of Agriculture regarding your license status in December. We will mail letters from the Extension office regarding training opportunities shortly after.
