The MUNDO NYC Experience 2023:

Global Perspectives: Exploring Identity, Community, and Commitment in the Big Apple

October 11-15, 2023

Overview:

This year’s “vintage” version of the MUNDO NYC Experience will focus on how life in “the City” has been affected by social change values including consciousness of self, controversy with courage, collaboration, and commitmentWhile in the Big Apple, the group will experience a tasty MUNDO Eats opportunity, an exciting TEATRO activity, and more.

  • Departure for New York City:
    • The group will depart for NYC on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 11 PM (after bus pick-ups from the Ohio Union (South Campus), behind Archer House (North Campus) and the RPAC area Transit Hub (West Campus)
  • Return from New York City:
    • The group will depart NYC at 8 AM on Sunday, October 15, 2023, and return to campus by 7 PM.

Active participants in the MUNDO NYC Fall Break Experience 2023 will  be able to:

  • identify local, national, or global issues or problems the group is committed to addressing through social change.
  • can describe examples of how being curious and open-minded helped them learn about themselves or others. 
  • identify significant considerations for deciding what social change issues or problems to address with a common purpose within a group.

This year’s experience will include roundtrip transportation to NYC, accommodations and breakfasts at Hostelling International New York City, a 24-hour, 3-day subway pass for the entire stay in NYC, a ticket to the Broadway show, a tour of Lower and Midtown Manhattan, group exploration time, and nontraditional discovery opportunities focused on exploring the challenges and opportunities related to identity, community, and commitment in the United States’ largest city.

To be considered for participation in the 2023 MUNDO NYC experience a completed MUNDO NYC 2023 must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Monday, September 18, 2023

Participation Requirements (Next Steps.)

Once selected,  interested MUNDO NYC 2023 applicants must complete the following steps to participate in the experience:

Payments:

  • Submit a $100 deposit by 11:59 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023
  • Submit a $95 final payment by 11:59 PM on Monday, October 9, 2023
  • Both payments should be made using this link: https://housing.osu.edu/secure/trips/

ResRules! Resources –

In recognition of the 25+ years of the MUNDO NYC experience, we are taking the experience back to its vintage roots (when the group was originally called “ResRules!”)  by providing participants with these resources and Challenge Cards that are designed to help the group get the most out of their time in the Big Apple.

  • ResRules! Resource Challenge One-
    • Get ready to form a team of 5 to 6 people on Monday, October 9, 2023, for the NYC Pre-Travel meeting from 6-8:30 PM. This will include the MUNDO Serves activity of REACH Training which is designed to help us all become skilled at helping to prevent suicide in our communities.
