The Immersion Principle states that people do not necessarily learn better in 3D immersive virtual reality than with corresponding 2D presentations.

Putting the Immersion Principle into practice:

The best way to put this principle into practice is to remember to use the other Multimedia Principles when creating immersive learning environments. Merely creating immersive environments is not enough to engage learners and help them succeed. Some VR environments can be distracting and/or increase a learner’s cognitive load. Use best practices of multimedia learning in both 2D and 3D learning environments to ensure multimedia learning objects achieve the identified learning objectives.
