Grad Entry students may take the NCLEX to become a registered nurse when all required pre-licensure nursing courses have been completed at the end of the fifth semester or session of full-time study. Passing the exam results in licensure in Ohio. Applications for endorsement licensure in other states can be made to those states’ Boards of Nursing; however, some states may not endorse the license until M.S. in Nursing requirements are completed.
Effective January 1, 2023, the Ohio Board of Nursing will begin issuing multi-state licensure per the passage of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). The Compact allows RNs and LPNs to practice in other Compact states if they are issued a multi-state license by the nurse’s home state. Currently, we do not know the criteria for obtaining a multi-state license. The Ohio Board of Nursing will provide further information pertaining to multi-state licensure as the implementation date nears.
